New Zealand is regarded as a ‘friendly’ nation. Our relationship with developing countries is one of goodwill and compassion. Equity and fairness are values we prize. Which is why VSA Project Friendship strikes a real chord with New Zealanders.
Support VSA Project Friendship, 11-17 August 2008 – VSA’s fourth national Friendship campaign. Encourage everyone to wear a $2 friendship bracelet, promote New Zealand goodwill, and support New Zealand’s own VSA volunteers out there, spreading friendship and making a positive difference in the world.
Schools and community groups – we particularly invite your involvement! Resources are available to make this one of the most memorable and interactive projects your class, group or circle of friends could be involved with all year. By getting involved:

Join other New Zealand schools and community groups already participating in VSA Project Friendship during VSA Friendship Week, 11-17 August 2008. All you need is a group of students or members who are able to sell the bracelets during lunch breaks or free time. Remember to get permission from your group leader or principal before you begin.

Choose a bracelet that suits a friend and tie it onto their wrist. This simple act of friendship means a lot. The friendship bracelet symbolises one world, where people of all cultures and colours can live with respect, dignity and equality. This is what VSA volunteers strive towards in the work they do, helping make life better for people who are working hard to improve their living situations.
TOP OF PAGECan my school/youth organisation participate in VSA Project Friendship but at a different time?
VSA Project Friendship and the selling of bracelets can happen any time from August to the end of October. Contact us if you would like VSA Project Friendship week to be at a different time. We can then send you the bracelets and resources at your convenience.
What if we don’t sell all the bracelets?
Bracelets can be returned to our VSA office in Wellington at no cost or risk to you.
Can my students manage the selling of the bracelets themselves?
Schools last year found that students enjoyed the process of organising and selling the bracelets. The sales kit comes with clear instructions and all necessary items to make it easy for students to work with. Usually one adult gave facilitation and motivation support.
If our school/group is unable to sell the bracelets this year, can we still make use of the resources?
Yes. While being involved in VSA Project Friendship is an excellent way to introduce the resources to students, they are able to stand alone as well. Contact us if you would like to order the education resources free of charge.
VSA is delighted to have the support of Whitcoulls stores throughout New Zealand. Find out where your closest Whitcoulls Imagination Supplies store is.
